Corporal Steven Brooks of the New Castle Police Department and Sgt. Chad Adams of the Pulaski Township Police Department participated in the Police Unity Tour on May 9-12. Members of the Tour rode bicycles almost 300 miles from Florham Park, NJ to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial at 5th and E NW in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the Tour is to raise awareness of police officer line of duty deaths and raise money for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund.  Brooks and Adams rode specifically in honor of Shenango Township
Officer William “Jerry” McCarthy, who was killed in the line of duty in 2013.

At the memorial the Tour presented the NLEOMF with a check for $1,910,000. The pictures show Brooks and Adams riding through the memorial at the conclusion of the Tour along with McCarthy’s name engraved on the memorial wall. The other image is of Brooks at the candlelight vigil, which is held at the memorial every year on May 13.
