New Castle Police Department’s motor unit assisted with the escort for the 14th annual America’s 911 Ride. The ride is the largest police escorted motorcycle ride visiting all three of the 9/11 crash sites over a three day period. This year the ride consisted of approximately 700 participant motorcycles and 130 escorting police motors that provide traffic control and ensure the safety of the participants and spectators.
America’s 911 Foundation funds… a college scholarship program for children of Active First Responders. The foundation also assists emergency organizations with funds, materials, equipment and/or volunteers when needed.
This is the 10th year that the New Castle Police have assisted with the ride. In 2010 the 911 Foundation donated a Harley Davidson Police Electra Glide Classic to our department in appreciation for our continued assistance.
Next year will be the 15th and final year for the ride. The New Castle Police Department’s Motor Unit will again assist with the escort. Any local riders interested in participating are welcome to begin the ride with Corporal Buswell, Officer Paglia and Officer Williams from the New Castle area.
